ON DIGITAL AWARENESS

STIMULATING INCREASED DIGITAL AWARENESS IN THE CITY CONTEXT

Say you have access to Internet and are skilled in using a certain type of tool, like a social media platform…This does not mean you automatically know what this social media platform does with the data about you. Or say you are living in an area where broadband is just now being implemented…This does not always mean you naturally understand which opportunities and threats having online access may bring.

Every time a (new) technology enters society a need for digital awareness grows.

From having online access for the first time, to understanding the motivations of social media platforms, to how safe is interacting with your preferred Ai chatbot, to what is that camera on that drone actually filming, we believe there is an increasing need to stimulate digital awareness among all audiences and in all communities. One could even say this is a need that not one single organisation is able to fully cater. A solution is increasing the digital awareness level of people, all of us, ourselves. Digital Rights House is active in this domain. We are learning everyday from the people we interact with, from conversations on the street to working sessions with specific target groups and welcome all the help out there in making the projects we are involved in successful. There is so much still to be done!
